The Network's bed holding policy is designed to improve patient flow for rehab/CCC inpatients that become acutely ill and require admission to an acute care hospital.
The policy provides consistent timelines and processes to support the repatriation of patients to rehab/CCC hospitals following an admission to acute care. It also defines the maximum length of time a bed may be held in the rehab/CCC hospital in anticipation of the return of the patient from acute care.
The policy has been implemented by all adult rehab/CCC hospitals in the GTA.
