Advocating for Rehab
The GTA Rehab Network is a recognized and influential voice for rehabilitation as an essential component of high quality, connected care. The Network advocates for the role of rehabilitation in improving patient outcomes and experience, reducing costs and helping patients flow through the system.
Our work in this area includes the following:
- Making a case for rehabilitation: The Network is helping Ontario Health Teams to integrate rehabilitation into their services. Our Guidance for Ontario Health Teams provides an overview of how rehabilitation contributes to achieving the quadruple aim in a variety of settings, including primary care, acute care hospitals and home and community care.
- Showcasing rehab as a system solution: Our annual Best Practices Day highlights leading practices and innovations in rehabilitative care that contribute to high quality and efficient care.
- Ensuring bundled care pricing reflects best practice care: The Network uses best practice models of care and shared data from members to advocate for bundled care outpatient rehab pricing that accurately reflects the resources required to provide best practice rehabilitative care.
- Advocating for specialized rehabilitative care: As Ontario Health Teams (OHTs) take on responsibility for care delivery, the Network is advocating for specialized rehabilitation for certain populations to ensure good patient outcomes and efficient care. The Network's guidance for OHTs on specialized rehabilitation will help them identify patients who require specialized rehabilitation and refer them appropriately.
