Opening Keynote Presentation Timely Change for Changing Times ~ Standing Still is Not an Option - It's Not Even Safe!
BRYAN HAYDAY, President, Change-Ability, Inc.; Lecturer, Schulich School of Business, York University
Starting with a provocative look at the exponential changes in today's research and development environment, you will learn the power of inquiry ~ where enquiry both enables imagination of the possible and preservation of the precious. The power of networks is unleashed when we fully assume our role as "leaderful" members. What does this mean? It means we will learn how to ask what if, why not, how else can we... and even wicked questions to support our renewal, our profession and our passion.

Consumer Keynote Presentation Setting a Flame to the Adventure Within DAVID SHANNON B.A., LL.B, LL.M., PhD (in progress)
In 1981, David Shannon had a C5 spinal cord injury. He completed his rehabilitation at Lyndhurst hospital, and from there let the adventure begin. This has included being the first person with quadriplegia to reach the North Pole, adaptive scuba diving, bungee jumping, a world record skydive, and a planned expedition to the South Pole in 2010. Despite all these accomplishments, David always states that "education has made the difference in my life. It has given me self-esteem, a career, and the road to an enriching support system". David will discuss how his rehab experience has built the foundation to being welcomed and included in the community, as well as share the ongoing role it plays in his life and others with SCI. For David it is through engaged client focused rehabilitation that great and unrealized potential can flourish.

Abstracts
The People's Choice Award competition
This year, the GTA Rehab Network, along with its planning partners in Kingston, London, Ottawa, Sudbury and Thunder Bay, had the great privilege of hosting The Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, as our special guest for the 10th anniversary celebration reception.
His Honour's passion for the role of rehabilitation and his experiences surviving polio as a child were both encouraging and inspiring. The People's Choice Awards presentation was particularly memorable this year, as His Honour presented these awards with GTA Rehab Network Executive Director, Charissa Levy.
Congratulations to all those who submitted abstracts for Best Practices Day and in particular, to the winners of the poster competition portion of the People's Choice Awards and the first ever award for Rapid Podium Presentation.
